Partnering with Portsmouth Pride and Southampton Pride

Our Partnership

In 2025, Portsmouth won the bid to host the country’s official UK Pride celebrations a result that was testament to the year-round programme of community-run events the city works hard to deliver. Over 260 other cities were in the running, making this a significant accolade for Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

Shortly after the news came in, we were contracted as the event’s official Print Partner, supporting organisers in transforming the city into a rainbow of colour.

The Pride rainbow flag is one of the most internationally recognised symbols, representing allyship and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community something we at Hampshire Flag Company don’t just believe, but deeply embed throughout our company culture. Inclusion is central to how we hire, collaborate, and connect with our local community.

The responsibility bestowed upon us for such an important event was not lost on us. We give our all to every project, but when it matters this much, it’s impossible to deny that it just feels different. And as a general company policy, when we work with a charitable or non-profit organisation, we do for so no charge or a very minimal fee.

Pride March

Rod Sessions, our Commercial Director, described it best:

HFC’s support of the LGBTQ+ community runs for 365 days a year. We proudly stand with all and believe everyone should have an equal voice

The UK Pride Movement

The movement behind UK Pride, and every Pride event celebrated throughout the year, shouldn’t be confined to that one moment in time.

For Portsmouth’s event, we provided a range of custom-design print items to be displayed and used by attendees throughout Southsea Common on Saturday 7th June, including giant deckchairs, bunting, stage banners, fencing, handwaving flags and marching flags. We also supported several other activations across the city, including a significant installation throughout Gunwharf Quays.

Around the same time, we were delighted to also be approached for Southampton’s Pride event, in August 2025. Confirmed as Print Partner for this too, we delivered a similar scale of bespoke print products.

We were delighted to hear CP Robinson, Co-Chair & Campaigns Manager at Portsmouth Pride Trust, share these kind words about working with us:

Selecting our Print Partner is no mean feat, but knowing HFC were already working with our friends at Southampton Pride gave us great faith in their team. They are pivotal to the atmosphere running through our event, and HFC made us feel at ease throughout with so much support far beyond ‘just doing the printing’. They embedded themselves in our mission, collaborated with us, uplifted our work and delivered the highest quality products that truly painted the event in colour

Both Portsmouth and Southampton Pride continue to work tirelessly to ensure these cities remain among the most inclusive and diverse for members of the LGBTQ+ community all year round.

We will always be happy and proud to support them, however and whenever we can.

Make Your Stand Unmissable: Why Exhibition Graphics Matter

Stock Image - Event hall

Exhibitions are fast-paced, competitive environments. You may have invested months planning your space, training your team and refining your message, but on the day, you’re competing with rows of other stands all fighting for the same attention. Visitors make decisions in seconds, meaning you need to make a great quick first impression.

That’s where exhibition graphics become powerful.

At HFC (Hampshire Flag Company), we see graphics as your silent salesperson. Before your team has the chance to smile, shake hands or start a conversation, your stand design is already speaking on your behalf. With the right balance of precision, innovation and vibrant creativity, your graphics can stop people in their tracks and open the door and start meaningful conversations.

Clear Communication

When someone walks past your stand, they should instantly understand:

  • Who you are
  • What you do
  • Why it matters to them

If they have to think too hard, you’ve lost them. Clear, confident messaging delivered with professionalism will always outperform overly complicated design.

Be bold. Be direct. Be purposeful.

The Power of Colour

Colour is one of the most powerful tools in large format print. It grabs attention, communicates emotion and strengthens brand recognition.

To maximise impact:

  • Stick to your core brand colours
  • Limit your colour palette to 2–4 colours
  • Ensure that you use strong contrast so that the text is readable from a distance

Vibrant colour, used with intention, reinforces reliability and builds trust. Consistency across your stand, banners, leaflets and digital screens shows you’re established and dependable.

Space: The Unsung Hero

Clutter kills attention. A crowded design overwhelms the eye and dilutes your message.

Smart, versatile design embraces space:

  • Don’t try to say everything
  • Give headlines and imagery room to breathe
  • Design for people who are walking past, not standing still

Remember, your audience is moving. Big, clear messages visible from several metres away are essential.

Image Is Everything

High-quality imagery reflects the quality of your business. Grainy visuals or generic stock photography can undermine your professionalism.

Choose images that:

  • Show real people or real impact
  • Feel authentic and aligned to your brand
  • Are high resolution and scaled confidently
  • Work alongside minimal text

Large, bold imagery combined with precision print creates an immediate emotional connection.

Keep Text Sharp and Impactful

Long paragraphs belong in brochures, not on exhibition walls.

Instead focus on

  • One strong headline
  • Short, supporting lines
  • Friendly, everyday language
  • A clear call to action — Talk to us, Discover more, Let’s collaborate

Your graphics should spark curiosity, not answer every question. The goal is to start a conversation.

Consistency Builds Confidence

Consistency is more than good design; it’s a signal of reliability.

Be sure to use the same:

  • Colours
  • Fonts
  • Tone of voice
  • Core messaging

Across your stand, flags, banners, exhibition graphics and supporting materials. When everything works together, your brand feels cohesive, credible and memorable.

Designed to Start Conversations

At Hampshire Flag Company, we combine creativity, innovation and sustainability to deliver exhibition graphics that are not only visually striking but strategically effective. With cutting-edge large format print technology and a collaborative approach, we help bring your ideas to life with precision and timeliness you can depend on.

Because great exhibition graphics don’t just fill a space

  • They attract attention.
  • They communicate clearly.
  • They invite engagement.

And when designed with purpose, they ensure your brand doesn’t just attend the exhibition — it stands out.
